CODE OF CONDUCT

INTRODUCTION
At this College your education is of great importance to us. With this code of conduct we strive to create an atmosphere conducive to your education. Our dedicated staff offers their assistance to prepare you for your career. Please give us your full co-operation in this regard.
Together we can observe and address obstacles which you might experience in your studies. The “rules” outlined in this document will mostly correspond with those expectations in your future profession. Live up to these “rules” and you will have a good chance to succeed.
2.
GENERAL
2.1 Amendment to any College rule will be presented in writing after consultation with staff, management and SRC. Students will be duly informed of such amendments.
2.2 Authorization to issue public statements is only granted to the chairperson of the College Council or his/her delegate. The chairperson or delegate is also the only role players mandated to conduct public or media interviews concerning internal College matters. Exceptions can only be granted by the chairperson prior to the interviews or issuing of statements.
2.3 The right of admission to visitors the college is reserved. The College Council and Principal are under no obligation to reveal the reason for refusing a student or visitor to the College.
2.4 The college reserves the right to examine /search/question or arrange a search/questioning/examination of any person and /or property of anybody on the Campus.
3.
VISITORS
3.1 Visitors entering the campus shall do so at own risk. The College will not be responsible for any loss or damage incurred by any visitor.
3.2 A visitor who causes damage at College property shall be liable for the cost of repair or replacement of such damaged property. The College may institute the necessary legal steps to recover all costs involved.
3.3 When requested to do so, visitors shall immediately leave the campus.
3.4 No outsider will be permitted to visit students during college hours unless in cases of emergency. Visitors must acquire prior permission at the office before entering campus.
3.5 All visitors shall comply with campus rules of conduct.
3.6 Visitors may circulate publications or notices on campus after getting permission from Campus Managers.
3.7 If you visit the Campus you must get a
visitors card at he Office, you must bring your ID book with when visiting.
4.
NOTICES
4.1 Traffic and no-entry signs have to be obeyed by students.
4.2 Notices are only to be displayed on official notice boards with prior authorization of the Principal or his delegate. Subversive material may not be displayed and / distributed on Campus.
5.
5.1 Permission for any tour/excursion undertaken in the name of the college must be applied for in writing at least four weeks prior the commencement of such a tour.
6.
CAMPUS CONDUCT
6.1 No racial, sexist or violent remarks will be allowed on campus. Agitators will not be permitted on campus.
6.2 Dangerous weapons of any kind will not be permitted on campus.
6.3 It is the individual’s responsibility to keep the campus clean of all forms of littering and pollution.
6.4 Students will respect staff and fellow-students.
6.5 No form of theft is allowed at the College.
6.6 No intimidation whether verbally or physically of fellow-student or staff members is allowed.
6.7 Nobody will bring drugs, alcoholic beverages or harmful substances of any sort onto campus. Students will also not supply, consume or be under the influence of any intoxicating substance on campus.
6.8 Written approval must be obtained from management for any enterprise embarked on.
6.9 Any form of publication may only be distributed with written consent of the Principal.
6.10 Students shall refrain from any form of in-subordination and/or undisciplined activity.
6.11 Students shall always behave in a civilized manner.
6.12 No student may interfere with the work/duty of the groundsman.
7.
COLLEGE PROPERTY
7.1 No furniture and/or equipment may be damaged or removed from classrooms and/or College premises.
7.2 Any person damaging any building and/or equipment can be held responsible for repair or replacement of it at own cost. The college reserves the right to determine or allocate responsibility for repairs.
8.
INITIATION
8.1 Initiation of students in any form is prohibited.
9.
MEETINGS
9.1 No mass meetings may be held without prior
written approval of the Campus Managers.
9.2 Students are advised to attend meetings.
9.3 SRC meetings shall be held during break time.
9.4 Student meetings can take 5 min of every period for a Mass meeting.
10.
DRESS
10.1 Provocative clothing is not permitted.
10.2 Students
should be dressed neatly and respectfully during lectures.
11.
TELEPHONES
11.1 The office
will not accept private calls for students during College hours. Cell phones must be switched off.
12.
ABSENCE/ILLNESS
12.1 The Principal should be informed of serious illnesses or injuries for example meningitis.
12.2 The College is not responsible for any medical expenses due to illness or injury.
12.3 A medical certificate must be submitted for any absence or sick leave for two (2) consecutive days or more.
12.4 If you need an Ambulance, the College will phone for one, but the student will settle the bill.
13.
VEHICLES
13.1 Students using parking facilities on campus must always adhere to the appropriate driving and parking instructions.
13.2 Excessively loud and/or disturbing music will not be allowed on Campus.
13.3 Students are not allowed to tamper with any vehicles parked on Campus.
13.4 Vehicles entering or living the campus may be searched.
13.5 Students park at own risk.
14.
CLASSROOMS
14.1 Smoking only allowed in the designated area.
14.2 No food or beverages may be consumed in the classroom.
14.3 No person shall attend lectures other than those for which he/she is registered.
14.4 Punctuality should be maintained at all times.
14.5 No student should be called out of a classroom without permission of the lecturer.
14.6 Each student must attend classes for which he/she is registered.
14.7 Appointments (doctor, dentist, business) should be made after College hours.
14.8 Appointments for licenses should only be made during College holidays. No exceptions will be made during examinations.
14.9 Studies should at all times be taken seriously.
14.10 Every student should have his own textbooks. No illegal photocopying is allowed.
14.11 No student will be allowed to study or remain in any classroom after closure of lectures.
14.12 Dishonesty during tests and examination is strictly prohibited and will be handled with by Campus Managers.
14.13 Students may under no circumstance use the internet facilities to access pornographic websites, failure to abide by this rule can lead to disciplinary action.
